THOMAS C. WALES FOUNDATION AWARD EVENTS

Each fall since 2002, we have held a recognition dinner at which we have presented our Thomas C. Wales Award for Passionate Citizenship.
The specific format of the evening varies from year to year, but the general structure remains the same. Arriving guests can review the accomplishments of honorees on large easel-mounted poster boards outside the banquet room. During the event, each of our five honorees is introduced and the nature of the work for which they are being honored is described. All honorees receive a commemorative plaque. The recipient of the Thomas C. Wales Award for Passionate Citizenship is the last to be recognized and traditionally is given a few minutes to tell the audience about their work, and to thank the people that have helped them in their arduous journey to success.
All honorees are welcomed into our alumni network of extraordinary community-minded individuals.
Each year we invite a well known keynote speaker to follow the award presentation with a few comments about the importance of action and service by all members of our community. Past speakers have included Senator John Kerry, Sociologist Robert Putnam, and Earth Day founder Denis Hayes.
To be sure to receive notice of this year's event, contact us to be added to our mailing list.
